What it is
sammenlignkoereskoler.dk (“compare driving schools”) lets you find and compare driving schools near you in Denmark on price. You enter where you live and see the schools that cover your area, with their packages side by side.
It is my oldest product still running, started in 2022.
Why
Getting a driving licence in Denmark is expensive, and every school presents its prices differently: packages, individual lessons, the track, the test fees. Comparing them means opening a dozen websites and doing the maths yourself. Nobody had done the comparison once for everyone.
How it’s built
- Rails on Postgres, with Hotwire and Tailwind, and translated routes.
- Scraping. A headless browser and an HTML parser visit the driving schools’ websites and collect their price pages.
- AI extraction. A language model reads each school’s prices and turns them into the same structured shape, so packages from different schools can be compared.
- Postal areas. Schools are mapped to the Danish postal codes they serve, so search works on where you live.
- Background jobs keep the data fresh, and simple first-party analytics show what people search for.
Where it stands
Live since 2022. It mostly takes care of itself.
